Day 3: Yao rolls ankle, but he’s fine

Yao Ming rolled his right ankle during Wednesday’s practice, but both Yao and the team said he was fine — there was no concern at all about this being anything but mild. Yao exited the scrimmage as a result, but it was about when he had to come out anyway (due to his 12-minute time limit in scrimmages). Continue reading

Adelman talks after Day 2 of Training Camp

Rockets coach Rick Adelman met with us after practice on Tuesday, touching on a few different topics: Said the camp so far has been very competitive, though he wouldn’t really say anyone has stuck out as far as being impressive. Battier: There’s no secret to defense

You’ve heard it asked here plenty of times by now — can the Rockets get back to great defense? If they can, they’re a legitimate contender. No question. They have enough offensive firepower to wreak serious havoc. But if they can’t, if the handcuffs on Yao or the anchor of a backcourt that won’t be mistaken for lockdown prove to be too big of burdens, the Rockets could fall to middle-of-the-pack in the West.
